What Cuate is
Cuate is a free personal safety app made by Arc Labs. There is no account, no payment, and no subscription. You do not agree to anything by installing it beyond what is on this page.
What it is not
Cuate is not an emergency service. It does not contact the police, the fire service, an ambulance, or any monitoring company. It tells the people you chose. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Cuate is not legal advice. The Know Your Rights material is summarised from guidance published by the ACLU, the ILRC, the NILC and United We Dream. It is general information, it may be wrong for your situation, and it is not a substitute for a lawyer.
It can fail
An alert needs a working phone, a charged battery, and a network. Any of those can be missing exactly when you need them. Notifications can be delayed or suppressed by the operating system. For contacts who do not have Cuate installed, you have to tap Send yourself — iOS does not let an app send a message on your behalf. Please do not rely on Cuate as your only plan.
Your recordings
Recording other people may be regulated where you live. You are responsible for knowing whether and how you may record. Cuate does not review, moderate or retain what you record — it encrypts it on your phone and sends it to the contacts you chose.
No warranty
Cuate is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Arc Labs is not liable for any loss arising from use of the app or from an alert that did not arrive.
